The Citrus Bowl is the seventh-oldest collegiate bowl game in the country, originally known as the Tangerine Bowl, which began in 1947 with the support of members from Elks Lodge #1079 of Orlando, each contributing $100 to kick off the event. Since 1993, this iconic bowl has proudly hosted top teams from the Big Ten and Southeastern conferences.

In the exciting new era of the College Football Playoff, the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl will continue to feature the best teams from the Big Ten and SEC that fall outside of the CFP series (including the Rose, Sugar, Fiesta, Orange, Cotton, and Peach Bowls).
